In the United States, Citizen is best known for its Eco-Drive range of watches. Eco-Drive watches use a battery recharged by a solar panel hidden under the watch face. the Eco-Drive system currently described on the Citizen Watch Official Web Site is the one depending solely on light to recharge. Citizen also manufactures watches for collectors. For example, a watch bearing the colors and logo of the Blure Angels. This watch is part of the Skyhawk A-T line, which utilizes Eco-Drive as its primary power source and features Atomic Timekeeping. The Blue Angels use blue and gold as their trademark colors and the watch bears this color scheme. The Deployment Clasp with a Push Button (DCP) is a clasp available for many Citizen watch bracelet bands. The clasp, as with the Calibre 8700, is also used with leather bands as if they were metal bracelet-style watchbands; however, when the clasp is fastened, the band appears to be a normal eye-hole and link pin leather watchband.

The
Citizen Men's Eco-Drive Canvas Strap Watch #BM8180-03E
looks much better in person than in pictures on the web. Quality is very good and the hands line up perfectly. The luminova is evenly applied and lasts longer, actually all the way through the night, which I didn't think would be the case. Citizen Eco-drive models DO have a battery. The solar cell stores energy in a rechargeable manganese-titanium battery. The battery should last a very long time according to Citizen engineers who project that even after 20 years the battery should retain 80% of recharge capacity. Speaking of time, the watch is pretty accurate. For one month it has lost less than one second when compared to the US national time. (nist.gov)
This watch is for your days off. The mineral crystal and the water resistant features ensure this. The band is crafted of military style nylon khaki with riveted type holes for adjusting the band to accommodate your wrist. Inexpensive but finely crafted. Look hard at this watch because it has a better movement. Large numbers enhance the dial with luminous hands. The day and date are also displayed in English and Spanish. A must have for those leisure days.

I wanted another watch that was less dressy, and was happy when I found
Citizen Men's Eco-Drive Chronograph Canvas Watch #AT0200-05E
at a low price. However, this watch looks very nice, despite its price. A leather band would make it look more expensive, but this is a military watch and the band is quite appropriate. Although the description calls this a canvas strap, the inside is coated so that it does not absorb sweat. It's VERY easy to set. It is more like a traditional watch; you only need to adjust the main crown. The other two buttons north and south of the crown control the chronograph. Seconds tick by on this watch on the small dial located just above the "6" on the watch face. The large second hand that you normally associate with the sweep second hand is part of the chronograph. By the way, the chronograph is EXTREMELY easy to operate. One of my favorite features of this watch is the extremely large, easy-to-read numbers on the dial. The face is large enough but not to big. The band feels great. The chrono feature is cool and amuses my kids when the reset button is pressed and the hand whizzes around to zero. The date window is unconventional but it so easily located. It is not in the way like other watches in the 3-hour spot. It is very military looking, which is exactly what I was looking for.
Citizen Men's Eco-Drive Perpetual Calendar Chronograph Watch #BL5250-02L
is a great value for the price. It's a good-looking watch with a handsome deep blue face that looks black and dark gray dials and shiny bezel. I found the leather band a little cheap looking and feeling at first - maybe a bit too shiny or something but it seems to have gotten better looking with wear. From a distance the combination of the leather band, titanium case and dark blue face is quite nice. I was concerned this watch might be too thick because of a review of this watch with the metal band - but I found it to be in the same range as other watches I own. The titanium is quite light. The chronometer uses the second hand to do most of the main timing with a smaller dial keeping track of the minutes and if a button is pushed, the fractions of a second in 0.2 sec increments. The manual was short, but I found unlike the other reviews, that it had as much as I needed to know in it including how to center the date in the date window. The watch has a great and unusual combination of solar power, perpetual calendar, plus chronometer and alarm.
Citizen Men's Eco-Drive Titanium Perpetual Calendar Chronograph Watch #BL5250-53L
is a Great watch. I am really happy with this purchase I think you will be hard pressed to find a watch with the same features/quality. The watch has 3 modes, time, chrono, dual time(local time) & alarm. You switch between the features by turning the stem to the desired function in the bottom sub-dial. You never need to replace the battery!! - This is a huge when you think about the cost of replacing the batteries in some watches that need to be sent to a service center. The Titanium composition makes the watch & bracelet lightweight but strong compared to a stainless steel equivalent. the Perpetual calendar never needs to adjust the date when it’s a 30-day month, once you have set the calendar. This product does exactly what it is designed to do; extracts electricity from light and keeps exact time. Eco-Drive watches are masterpieces of design and function. This Eco-Drive,. Function defines form and this is a superb example of such form. The titanium is light, eye pleasing. But most of all the watch is accurate and always has power.
